Activity: Give regular lectures, short courses and case discussions (Masterclass in Neurosurgery)


Place: Hospital Kuala Lumpur (other alternative places – UKM and UM Neurosurgey division)

Teacher/Trainer/Presenter: Mixed – Senior and junior Neurosurgeons

Regularity: every 6 months (in March and September)

Duration: one whole day


Audience: Trainees, young Neurosurgeons and anybody interested in it (free admission)


Method: Lectures, case discussions and interactive sessions


Payment: Nil (free)


Objectives:

To teach trainees and young Neurosurgeons in Malaysia on regular basis
To give opportunity for young Neurosurgeons to deliver teaching notes, hence encourage them for continuous medical education (CME) in Neurosurgery.
As a regular local platform for all: trainees, trainers, senior and junior Neurosurgeons to mix and share their experience

Topics covered (5 cycles/one batch of trainees):

Neuro-oncology and Surgical Neuroanatomy (1st cycle)
Spine I and Vascular Neurosurgery
Spine II; Paediatric Neurosurgery and Neurotrauma
Functional Neurosurgery; Epilepsy; Radiosurgery and tips on writing thesis/manuscript/case report
Miscellaneous: Neuroinfections, Haemorrhage & Infarct, Peripheral nerves and Brachial Plexus, Hemostasis and Neuroinstruments and Consent & Ethics (last/5th cycle)
